I got this set for Christmas, and have been slowly replacing my calphalons with the Le Creuset. I finally have all the sizes and this was definately a nice addition to my set. I like the classic cherry red and know it will last me years. Love the even cooking with this cookware and it makes a true difference when slow cooking my stew. very happy.

Appetizing color for a dutch oven that will last a lifetime or more
I got one of these as a gift some years ago and it became our favorite cooking vessel. This set is even nicer--the trivet is attractive, can go on the table, right next to the stove and the Cherry Red (of all the many color choices) is my favorite as it's very appetizing. (Our brains are kind of hardwired to like red food--ripe, sweet, or meaty.)
The inclusion of the cleaner is a kindness--the bottom of the pot develops a kind of stain or patina from sauces and roasts, and using abrasives will ruin the surface. The surface WILL stay relatively "non-stick" if you don't subject it to metal spoons, scrapers or use abrasive cleaners. So the cleaner encourages good maintenance.
Typically, I'm making soup or pot roast or stew in this pot; I also use it for curries and pilafs. The heavy cast iron provides even heat. I suggest you get silicone mitts to use with this as the phenolic resin knob (oven safe) and the handles get hot on stove and of course, in the oven...
